What you will do:

  • Engage directly with families to maximise their income and assist them in accessing benefit entitlements, discretionary payments, or social tariffs.
  • Provide advice and practical support with finances to parents/carers, working closely with colleagues in Children's Services and other agencies.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of family circumstances for accurate assessment of income and capital while undertaking benefit checks.
  • Calculate overpayments, handle debt arrangements, and provide first-stage debt advice including budgeting and income maximisation strategies.
  • Collaboratively work as part of a multi-agency team, contributing to assessments and developing holistic, family-led plans.
  • Ensure case records are maintained to professional standards and comply with data protection regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings, contribute to service development, and share knowledge on legislative or benefit assessment changes.
