What you will do:

- Lead, manage, and coach a team of social workers, including both experienced staff and newly qualified workers, to deliver and enhance services for vulnerable children and families.
- Improve outcomes for children and young people by fostering effective partnerships with other Council services and agencies.
- Contribute to achieving the council’s vision for Children’s Social Care by ensuring objectives and priorities are delivered.
- Provide high-quality supervision and oversight, ensure timely decision-making, and support ongoing learning for team members.
- Allocate cases within statutory timescales, ensuring clear objectives and outcomes to reflect a commitment to safeguarding children.
- Develop and review performance plans to enhance personal and professional growth for the team and contribute to staff retention.
- Utilise performance data effectively to monitor standards and compliance with practice procedures.
- Supervise students on placement and Newly Qualified Social Workers, supporting their initial phase of employment.
- Manage and monitor staffing budgets within delegated authority, ensuring financial prudence.
- Support recruitment activities, ensuring team staffing levels are maintained.
- Keep abreast of organisational policies, legislation, and national trends to maintain professional standards.
- Deputise and support Group Managers and cover for other Team Managers as needed.
- Actively promote fair access, diversity, and inclusion, in line with organisational policies.

Our ideal candidate is a qualified Social Worker with a management qualification or proven managerial experience. You should be registered with Social Work England, bring substantial post-qualifying experience with statutory work, and have a sound understanding of the complexities and risks associated with the role. Familiarity with ‘Signs of Safety’ and strengths-based practice is highly valued.
