Full job description:

Salary: £500-540 per week

Location: Lewisham, Bellingham, SE6

Subject: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Hours: 8:30AM – 4:00PM

 

Have you Graduated or due to Graduate from a leading University and have proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a school setting and feel confident leading small groups or whole-class sessions in the teacher’s absence?

Are you a 2:1 or higher Graduate who is passionate about education and ready to take the next step in your school-based career as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant?

Have you developed strong communication, planning, and behaviour management skills through your work in schools, and are now looking to broaden your impact as a HLTA?

 

This Higher-Level Teaching Assistant role is a fantastic opportunity to take on a pivotal classroom role, support teaching and learning across a range of age groups, and work in a school where your development and well-being truly matter.

This school is searching for a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to work closely with teachers to support pupils’ academic and personal development. You’ll help deliver high-quality learning experiences, sometimes independently with small groups or the whole class.

 

Higher Level Teaching Assistant: Candidate specification

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you should:

-          Hold a 2:1 or higher degree in any core subject (e.g. Psychology, Maths, English, Science)

-          Have prior experience working in a school setting as a Teaching Assistant or similar support role

-          Confident leading learning activities and managing a classroom when required

-          As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant you should have excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and a proactive approach

-          Is eager to continue learning and take advantage of career progression opportunities

 

Higher Level Teaching Assistant: Job role

Your responsibility as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant include:

- Plan and deliver pre-prepared learning activities to individuals, small groups, or whole classes

- Provide tailored support to pupils, including those with SEND or additional needs

- Use your initiative to manage classroom behaviour and maintain a focused learning environment

- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to contribute to planning, preparation, and assessment

- Monitor and report on pupil progress and adapt support as needed
