Salary: £500-£540 per week
Location: Gray’s, Thurrock, RM17
Start date: September 2025
Hours: 8:30AM-4:00PM Mon-Friday

Graduate English Academic Tutor – Candidate Specification
As a Graduate English Academic Tutor, you should:
- Hold a 2:1 or higher degree in English, English Literature/Language or related field (or on track to achieve this)
- Previous experience mentoring, tutoring, coaching or leading youth activities is highly desirable
- A confident, proactive, and engaging approach – able to work independently and as part of a team
- A genuine passion for English and a commitment to helping every student thrive
Graduate English Academic Tutor – Job Role
Your responsibility as a Graduate English Academic Tutor: include:
- Supporting English teachers during lessons, often from the back of the classroom, offering targeted help to individual students or small groups
- Working closely with staff to identify students who are struggling, and understanding the specific areas they need support in
- As a Graduate English Academic Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering 1-to-1 or small group tuition in English, tailored to individual student needs
- Leading after-school sessions, either to stretch high-achieving students or to provide catch-up support for those falling behind
- Helping to create an inclusive, engaging, and motivating classroom environment
