Location: Chichester, West Sussex (Office-based during duty week with hybrid flexibility)
Pay Rate: £24.55 per hour PAYE | £31.28 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Temporary | Full-Time (37 hours per week)
Start Date: 08 June 2026
End Date: 31 December 2026

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Assessment & Intervention Team within West Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner with strong frontline experience to contribute to high-quality assessment, safeguarding, and intervention work within a supportive local authority setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing timely and effective assessments of need and risk, undertaking child protection work where required, and ensuring that children and families receive the right support at the right time. You will work closely with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes and prevent escalation wherever possible.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake high-quality assessments of need and risk for vulnerable children and families
• Carry out child protection enquiries and contribute to safeguarding investigations
• Develop, implement, and review care plans in line with statutory requirements
• Undertake direct work with children to understand their lived experiences and needs
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to safeguard children effectively
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed case recordings and reports
• Attend and contribute to meetings, reviews, and case conferences
• Ensure practice complies with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
• Manage a varied caseload in a fast-paced frontline service

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England
• Minimum of 2–3 years post-qualified experience in statutory children’s social care
• Proven frontline experience in assessment, intervention, and child protection work
• Strong ability to assess risk and make sound professional judgments
• Experience working directly with children and families
• Strong multi-agency working and communication skills
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the western area of West Sussex

Working Arrangements

• Office-based during duty weeks with hybrid working flexibility
• Full-time role (37 hours per week)
• Must be able to attend County Hall, Chichester when required
• Ability to travel independently is essential

Additional Requirements

• Must have recent frontline child protection experience
• Minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience in statutory children’s services (England) required for agency eligibility
• Two detailed, practice-based references required in line with DfE standards
