Job Title - Mechanical Fitter

Location - Woodville, Derbyshire

Salary - Up to £47,000

Shift Pattern - 4 on / 5 off

The Role of the Mechanical Fitter

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a leading industrial manufacturing business based in Woodville, Derbyshire. The company is continuing to grow and invest heavily into the site with new machinery, equipment upgrades, and ongoing improvement projects.

The successful Mechanical Fitter will play a key role in maintaining production performance by carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance across a variety of industrial machinery and plant equipment. This role would suit an engineer looking for a long-term position within a busy and modern manufacturing environment.

As the Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and supporting continuous improvement activities to minimise downtime and maximise operational efficiency.

Key Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter

• Previous mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong background in reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• Experience working in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team

Essential Skills & Experience

• Mechanical fault-finding and repair experience
• Recognised mechanical engineering qualification
• Experience working on industrial machinery and equipment
• Good understanding of health & safety practices within manufacturing
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems
• Welding or fabrication skills would be beneficial
• Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter or Maintenance Engineer within the UK
• Knowledge of automated production equipment would be advantageous
