What you will do:

• Deliver safe and effective perioperative care throughout the anaesthetic, surgical, and recovery phases of treatment.
• Prepare, check, and maintain specialist operating theatre equipment, instruments, medical gases, and anaesthetic devices in accordance with local policies and safety standards.
• Assist anaesthetists during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia while ensuring patient comfort and dignity.
• Act as a scrub practitioner, supplying instruments and equipment during surgical procedures and maintaining accurate instrument and swab counts.
• Monitor patients within the post-anaesthetic care unit, assessing recovery and escalating concerns appropriately.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• BSc Hons Operating Department Practice or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to perioperative practice.
• Immediate Life Support ILS certification or willingness to obtain.

Registration and Compliance

• Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council HCPC.

Experience

• Experience working within an operating theatre or perioperative environment.
• Experience supporting a range of surgical specialities, including elective and emergency procedures.
