Senior Agent in Norfolk, Norfolk
UK working eligibility only.
Lead the delivery of a major highways infrastructure project from design through to construction and successful handover.
Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Agent, who will be required to work on a contract basis, full time on site in Norfolk.
Role Purpose:
- Support Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) activities during Stage 1, including buildability reviews, site investigations, supply chain engagement and cost forecasting.
- Lead construction operations during Stage 2 alongside the Works Superintendent, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery.
- Manage the successful completion and handover of project assets.
- Deliver works safely, to the required quality standards, on programme and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with design requirements, specifications, planning conditions, environmental obligations and stakeholder requirements.
- Provide leadership to engineering teams and subcontractors while working collaboratively with project stakeholders and support functions.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Champion a safety-first culture and lead by example.
- Promote a Right First Time approach to quality and minimise rework.
- Manage and coordinate site surveys and investigations.
- Develop buildable, safe and efficient construction solutions in collaboration with design teams and suppliers.
- Lead and oversee all construction activities within assigned disciplines.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with company management systems, procedures and industry standards.
- Manage engineering teams and coordinate subcontractor performance.
- Support the Construction Manager with construction delivery and project handover activities.
- Provide planning, procurement and subcontract management support.
- Review contracts, working methods, programmes and cost forecasts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor budgets, productivity and project progress, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Manage subcontract requirements and support commercial teams with subcontract accounts.
- Ensure timely procurement and approval of labour, plant and materials.
- Communicate client instructions, design changes and non-conformances to relevant project teams.
- Maintain comprehensive records, daily site diaries and documentation.
- Review, approve and implement ITPs, RAMS and other construction documentation.
- Manage Temporary Works and lifting operations where required, including fulfilling Temporary Works Coordinator and/or Appointed Person responsibilities.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent vocational qualification.
- Relevant CSCS Card.
- SMSTS or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Minimum 7 years' construction delivery experience, including at least 3 years in a management position such as Agent or Sub-Agent.
- Experience working within a Principal Contractor environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction methodologies and industry best practice.
- Knowledge and practical experience of construction contracts and commercial management.
- Experience managing Temporary Works and associated procedures.
- Behavioural Management training.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and document control systems.
- Strong planning, forecasting, leadership and communication skills.
Desirable:
- Highway construction experience, including working within traffic management environments.
- Experience of earthworks and stabilised pavement construction.
- Experience managing project handover activities.
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
- Lifting Appointed Person qualification.
- Professional membership or actively working towards professional qualification with a recognised industry body.
