What you will do
• Case Management: Manage a caseload of children and young people involved with the Youth Justice Service, ensuring effective intervention and support.
• Assessments: Undertake comprehensive assessments of risk, need, vulnerability, and protective factors.
• Intervention Planning: Develop and implement personalised intervention plans aimed at preventing offending and reducing risk.
• Direct Work: Build effective relationships with children, young people, and families, delivering meaningful interventions that encourage positive change.
• Safeguarding: Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, ensuring the welfare and protection of children and young people.
• Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate with social care, education, police, health services, and other partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Risk Management: Manage risks effectively while supporting rehabilitation, personal development, and community safety.
• Engagement: Use creative approaches to engage hard-to-reach children and families, fostering trust and participation.
• Report Writing: Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and documentation for courts, panels, and partner agencies.
• Public Protection: Ensure legal and statutory responsibilities are met while promoting the best interests of children and the wider community.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely, and professional case records in accordance with organisational and statutory requirements.
Qualifications / Requirements
• Social Work Qualification: Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registration: Current Social Work England registration.
• Experience: Previous experience within Children's Social Care, Youth Justice, Youth Offending Services, or related settings.
• Youth Justice Knowledge: Strong understanding of youth justice legislation, safeguarding procedures, risk management, and restorative approaches.
• Assessment Skills: Experience undertaking assessments, intervention planning, and risk analysis.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Partnership Working: Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency environments.
• Organisational Skills: Strong case management and workload prioritisation skills.
• Child-Centred Practice: Commitment to ensuring the voice of the child is central to all areas of practice and decision-making.
