Job purpose To deliver a specialist occupational therapy service to adults affected by cancer across the oncology pathway, including diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, palliative care, and end-of-life care. The post holder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions to maximise independence, function, and wellbeing, while contributing to effective discharge planning as an integral member of the Oncology MDT. Key responsibilities Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions for patients with complex physical, cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial needs related to cancer and its treatment. Independently manage a defined caseload, prioritising workload in line with clinical need and service demands. Assess functional abilities including activities of daily living, fatigue management, pain, cognition, mobility, and psychosocial impact. Recommend, coordinate, and review appropriate equipment, adaptations, and environmental modifications. Support effective discharge planning by liaising with community services, local authorities, and third-sector organisations. Deliver rehabilitation input across inpatient, outpatient, and day therapy settings as required. Provide education, advice, and self-management strategies to patients and carers. Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality clinical documentation in accordance with Trust, HCPC, and professional standards.
