Role Overview
An exciting fixed‑term locum opportunity is available for an experienced Band 6 General ODP Radiographer to join NHS Lothian, working within the OOPD Theatres at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This role runs from 20th April to 10th July 2026, offering a competitive hourly rate of £32.37 and consistent weekday working hours.
You will provide high‑quality radiographic imaging support across theatres, trauma, and general radiography settings, contributing directly to safe and effective patient care. Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do
- Deliver high‑quality radiographic imaging services within theatre and general settings.
- Provide intra‑operative imaging support to surgical teams.
- Support trauma and Emergency Department imaging requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs, and medical staff.
- Ensure patient safety and image quality meet NHS and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to clinical governance protocols.
Requirements / Candidate Criteria
Essential
- Recognised qualification as a Radiographer or ODP with radiography training.
- HCPC registration (or relevant professional registration).
- Proven experience in theatre radiography.
- Experience working in trauma and Emergency Department settings.
- Strong knowledge of general radiography practices.
- Ability to work confidently within high‑pressure clinical environments.
Desirable
- Previous experience within NHS acute hospital settings.
- Familiarity with intra‑operative imaging equipment and protocols.
