With a temporary contract from 02 March 2026 to 25 May 2026, you'll be at the forefront of delivering essential housing advice and homelessness prevention services to local residents. What you will do:
- Provide comprehensive housing advice to individuals and families, focusing on homelessness prevention, relief, and a variety of housing options.
- Assess and handle homelessness applications, ensuring legal compliance with housing legislation.
- Craft and manage Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs) to prevent or resolve homelessness.
- Engage with landlords, housing providers, and support agencies to secure accommodation solutions.
- Maintain detailed, accurate case records using council housing management systems.
- Advise on diverse housing paths, from private rentals to social housing options.
- Participate in early intervention strategies to reduce homelessness presentations.
- Uphold the Council’s safeguarding responsibilities and promote equality at all levels.
- Deliver a compassionate, customer-centric service in complex situations.

Essential Skills and Experience required:
- Proven experience in housing options, homelessness services, or housing advice roles.
- Solid understanding of homelessness legislation, especially the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Exemplary communication and negotiation skills, particularly with vulnerable clients.
- Exceptional ability to manage a busy caseload within tight deadlines.
- Proficient use of IT and case management systems for efficiency.
- Skilled in making informed, lawful decisions and clearly communicating them.

Desirable requirements:
- Experience in a local authority housing environment.
- Insight into North Northamptonshire’s housing markets and pathways.
- Background in prevention-focused housing work.
