What You Will Do

Lead on planning, monitoring, and delivery of work to achieve business and service objectives within the team.

Provide effective supervision, appraisal, mentoring, and professional support to social workers and other staff.

Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures for adults at risk.

Promote and embed high professional standards and best practice across the team.

Champion strengths-based and self-directed support approaches, enabling service users and carers to achieve outcomes that matter to them.

Supervise selected staff, including work allocation, performance management, and quality assurance.

Maintain awareness of financial and resource implications, promoting independence while ensuring value for money.

Drive high standards of practice and service delivery in line with departmental and statutory expectations.

Work closely with health, housing, and care partners to support integrated working and effective care pathways.

Collaborate with the Team Manager and Consultant Social Worker to balance service development with operational delivery.

Contribute to Quality Assurance Frameworks, audits, and service improvement activity.

Ensure high-quality, timely, and defensible case recording and decision-making across the team.
Requirements
Essential
-
Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registered with Social Work England.

Significant experience within Adult Social Care in a statutory setting.

Experience of supervising staff, mentoring, or acting in a senior/practice lead capacity.

Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding legislation.

Ability to manage complex cases, risk, and performance while supporting others to develop their practice.

Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
