What You Will Do

• Lead on planning, monitoring, and delivery of work to achieve business and service objectives within the team.

• Provide effective supervision, appraisal, mentoring, and professional support to social workers and other staff.

• Ensure compliance with safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures for adults at risk.

• Promote and embed high professional standards and best practice across the team.

• Champion strengths-based and self-directed support approaches, enabling service users and carers to achieve outcomes that matter to them.

• Supervise selected staff, including work allocation, performance management, and quality assurance.

• Maintain awareness of financial and resource implications, promoting independence while ensuring value for money.

• Drive high standards of practice and service delivery in line with departmental and statutory expectations.

• Work closely with health, housing, and care partners to support integrated working and effective care pathways.

• Collaborate with the Team Manager and Consultant Social Worker to balance service development with operational delivery.

• Contribute to Quality Assurance Frameworks, audits, and service improvement activity.

• Ensure high-quality, timely, and defensible case recording and decision-making across the team.

Requirements

Essential

• Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registered with Social Work England.

• Significant experience within Adult Social Care in a statutory setting.

• Experience of supervising staff, mentoring, or acting in a senior/practice lead capacity.

• Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding legislation.

• Ability to manage complex cases, risk, and performance while supporting others to develop their practice.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
