Senior Social Worker – First Contact (Front Door) – Children’s Services
Location: Newton Aycliffe (DL5 6ZE)
Pay Rate: £24.95 PAYE or £32.73 Umbrella per hour
Contract: Temporary
Hours: 37 hours per week (08:30 – 17:00)

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Worker to join a busy First Contact (Front Door) team within Children’s Services in Newton Aycliffe. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children’s Social Worker seeking locum social worker jobs in a fast-paced safeguarding environment.

This Senior Social Worker role sits at the front door of Children’s Services, where you will be responsible for screening and reviewing referrals, making informed decisions, and ensuring children and families receive the appropriate level of intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and screen incoming referrals within the Front Door / First Contact team

• Make timely and informed decisions on next steps in line with safeguarding thresholds

• Work within a fast-paced duty environment managing high volumes of referrals

• Liaise with multi-agency partners to gather relevant information

• Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified and responded to appropriately

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and documentation

• Apply knowledge of statutory frameworks, policies, and procedures

• Contribute to effective decision-making to support positive outcomes for children

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

• Significant experience within Children’s Social Work, ideally in Front Door / MASH / First Contact teams

• Strong understanding of safeguarding thresholds and referral pathways

• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure in a busy environment

• Excellent organisational, communication, and analytical skills

• Experience working in a local authority setting

Working Arrangements:

• Hybrid working model (2 days in the office, 3 days from home)

• Full-time hours with a consistent working pattern
