Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Worker to join the Safeguarding Team in Hammersmith & Fulham. This ongoing locum position offers professionals the chance to play a key role in protecting and supporting children while working within a dedicated and collaborative safeguarding service.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality statutory social work services, ensuring children and families receive effective support and safeguarding interventions. What You Will Do

  • Deliver statutory social work services in accordance with departmental priorities and safeguarding legislation.

  • Manage complex safeguarding cases, ensuring children receive appropriate protection and support.

  • Participate in supervision, training, and reflective practice sessions to maintain high professional standards.

  • Attend team meetings and participate in the emergency duty rota where required.

  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and partner agencies including police, health services, and education providers.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across different council departments and service areas.

  • Develop and implement care and case plans in line with departmental and statutory guidelines.

  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.

  • Make informed professional decisions in line with council policies and safeguarding frameworks.

  • Contribute to service development initiatives and maintain awareness of current policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).

  • Current registration with Social Work England.

  • Significant experience within Children’s Social Work, particularly safeguarding services.

  • Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation and statutory frameworks relating to children and families.

  • Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Excellent communication, assessment, and decision-making skills.
