Newcastle City Council is on the hunt for a dynamic Social Work Assistant Team Manager to provide agency cover within our energetic Care Leavers Team. This pivotal role is all about supporting young people aged 18–25 as they embark on their journey towards independence. Here, you will offer operational leadership, manage day-to-day activities, and provide essential support to our Personal Advisers and Leaving Care Support Officers, ensuring top-notch, timely, and outcome-focused support. This role can be either full-time or part-time, offering you the flexibility to balance work with life's other adventures.

What you will do:

Provide operational leadership and manage day-to-day activities of the Care Leaver Team.

Supervise and guide staff through reflective supervision, complex case support, and performance management.

Ensure practices adhere to statutory requirements and strengths-based Pathway Planning duties.

Manage casework quality, decision-making processes, and risk management effectively.

Support joint working with housing, health, education, employment, and commissioned services.

Contribute to service improvement initiatives, audit processes, and performance reporting.

Deputise for the Team Manager when required.
