Role overview

What you will do

Safeguarding Practice

  • Undertake safeguarding enquiries in accordance with Section 42 of the Care Act 2014.

  • Identify, assess, and manage risks to adults at risk of abuse or neglect.

  • Apply the Making Safeguarding Personal framework to ensure outcomes are led by the individual’s wishes.

  • Develop, implement, and review safeguarding plans in partnership with service users and relevant agencies.

Case Management

  • Manage and prioritise a complex safeguarding caseload effectively.

  • Complete strengths-based assessments and statutory reviews.

  • Undertake Mental Capacity Assessments and facilitate Best Interest decisions in line with the Mental Capacity Act.

Multi-Agency Working

  • Work collaboratively with police, NHS professionals, and care providers.

  • Contribute to risk management meetings, strategy discussions, and safeguarding reviews.

  • Challenge poor practice and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain active registration with Social Work England.

  • Participate in supervision, appraisal, and continuing professional development.

  • Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of practice.

  • Adhere to health and safety, confidentiality, and data protection regulations.


Person specification

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Social Work.

  • Current registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience undertaking safeguarding enquiries within Adult Social Care.

  • Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, safeguarding duties, and the Mental Capacity Act.

Desirable:

  • Post-qualifying award in Adult Social Care or Safeguarding.

  • Experience within a Local Authority Safeguarding Team.

  • Knowledge of Devon safeguarding procedures.

  • Court work experience.
