Role overview:
As a Social Worker within the Cared for Children Team, you will play a vital role in promoting stability, permanence, and positive outcomes for children and young people in care. You will ensure that children’s voices, welfare, and care plans remain central to all decision-making processes.

What you will do:

  • Manage a caseload of children in a range of care settings, overseeing Care Plans, Placement Plans, and Permanence Plans.

  • Ensure statutory visits, reviews, and legal requirements are completed within required timescales.

  • Act as a corporate parent, prioritising children’s safety, wellbeing, and best interests.

  • Progress permanence planning and support transitions to adulthood in partnership with Leaving Care services.

  • Work collaboratively with fostering services, residential providers, education, and health professionals.

  • Attend LAC reviews, placement meetings, and multi-agency forums to ensure coordinated support.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people, ensuring their voices shape all interventions.

Person specification / requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW).

  • Registration with Social Work England (SWE) is essential.

  • Post-qualifying experience within Children’s Social Care is required.

  • Experience working with Looked After / Cared for Children is desirable.
