Social Worker – Children & Families
Location: Just outside of Edinburgh (Hybrid Working)
Pay Rate: £42 per hour
Contract: Temporary / Agency
Working Pattern: Hybrid working with a condensed 4-day week available if preferred
Seven Resourcing are recruiting an experienced Social Worker – Children & Families to join a statutory children’s social care service just outside of Edinburgh. This role offers flexible hybrid working, a competitive hourly rate, and the option of a condensed four-day working week, supporting a strong work–life balance.

The Role – Children & Families Social Worker
As a Social Worker within Children & Families services, you will work directly with children, young people, and families to promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes. You will manage a statutory caseload, undertaking assessments, interventions, and reviews in line with legislation, policy, and best practice.
You will work closely with multi-agency partners including education, health, and third-sector services to deliver effective and child-centred outcomes.
Key Responsibilities – Social Worker (Children & Families)

Undertake statutory assessments of children and families

Manage cases involving child protection, children in need, and looked-after children

Develop and implement care plans and child protection plans

Prepare high-quality reports and attend case conferences, reviews, and court hearings

Carry out direct work with children, young people, and families

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard and support children

Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with local authority requirements

Manage risk effectively and make sound professional decisions
Requirements

Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification

Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)

Post-qualifying experience in Children & Families Social Work

Strong knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, and children’s legislation

Ability to manage a statutory caseload effectively

Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills

Ability to work effectively within a hybrid and flexible working model
