What you will do:

Assessment & Intervention:

• Conduct comprehensive Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory guidance.

• Manage cases under Section 17 (Children in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection) of the Children Act 1989.

• Design, implement, and review care and protection plans.

• Engage directly with children and families to promote safety and wellbeing.

Safeguarding & Child Protection:

• Respond promptly and proportionately to safeguarding concerns.

• Participate in strategy discussions and child protection conferences.

• Manage complex risks and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately.

• Apply statutory thresholds confidently and consistently.

Court & Legal Work:

• Contribute to Public Law Outline (PLO) processes.

• Prepare high-quality court reports and attend hearings.

• Support permanency planning and care proceedings when required.

Multi-Agency Working:

• Work collaboratively with health, education, police, housing, and partner agencies.

• Share information effectively to safeguard children and reduce risk.

• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to support joined-up decision-making.

Caseload Management & Professional Practice:

• Manage a diverse and complex caseload efficiently.

• Maintain accurate and timely case records.

• Engage in reflective practice, service development, and mentoring of less experienced staff.

Person Specification:

Essential Requirements:

• Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW)

• Registration with Social Work England

• Proven experience in Children’s Social Care

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation

Desirable:

• Experience within Child Protection or Assessment teams

• Court experience, including PLO and care proceedings

• Practice Educator qualification
