Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

  • Complete comprehensive physical and mental health assessments for individuals accessing substance misuse services.
  • Manage alcohol and opioid detoxification programmes in line with clinical guidelines.
  • Provide screening, education, and treatment related to blood‑borne viruses and vaccinations.
  • Deliver psychosocial and recovery‑focused interventions to support service users on their recovery journey.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure integrated care pathways.
  • Build strong therapeutic relationships through effective communication and engagement.
  • Contribute to clinical leadership by supporting and advising colleagues where appropriate.
  • Undertake risk assessments and contribute to harm‑reduction planning.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical records in line with legal, regulatory, and organisational standards.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
  • Proven experience working in substance misuse services.
  • Strong knowledge of detoxification protocols for alcohol and opioids.
  • Experience working with criminal justice or complex client groups.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and documentation skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within community or criminal justice healthcare settings.
  • Knowledge of harm‑reduction and recovery‑oriented models of care.
  • Experience delivering BBV screening and vaccination programmes.
