The Role – Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with KS1 pupils who require additional support due to SEN, including needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or learning delays. Support will be delivered through a combination of 1:1 assistance, small-group interventions, and in-class support, particularly around early literacy and numeracy.

You will work alongside experienced class teachers and the school’s SEN team, helping to implement tailored strategies and interventions that support both academic progress and emotional development. Building trusting, positive relationships with pupils is central to this Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant role.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos, placing great importance on pastoral care, early intervention, and ensuring every child feels safe, supported, and valued. Ideal Candidate – Graduate Primary SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Degree at 2:1 or above (Psychology, Education, or related subjects desirable but not essential)
  • Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine interest in SEN and inclusive education
  • Any prior experience with children or SEN is a bonus, but not required
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
