What you will do:

- Manage complex safeguarding cases: Lead on high-risk child protection cases, including assessments, interventions, and care planning to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing.
- Undertake statutory duties: Carry out responsibilities under key legislation such as the Children Act 1989/2004, including Section 17 and Section 47 inquiries.
- Provide professional leadership: Offer guidance, mentoring, and informal supervision to less experienced social workers and support staff.
- Multi-agency working: Collaborate effectively with partners such as police, health, and education to safeguard children and coordinate interventions.
- Court work and reporting: Prepare high-quality court reports, give evidence when required, and contribute to legal proceedings.
- Risk assessment and decision-making: Make informed, timely decisions in complex and high-pressure situations to protect children from harm.
- Ensure quality practice: Maintain accurate, timely records and ensure all work meets statutory requirements, policies, and professional standards.
- Safeguarding and child protection: Lead and contribute to child protection conferences, core groups, and reviews to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children.
