Sustainability Manager in South West, South West

We’re partnered with a leading UK infrastructure and engineering contractor to recruit a Sustainability Manager for their Southern region. This is a company known for delivering complex rail, civils, and infrastructure projects - and for taking sustainability seriously, not as a tick‑box exercise but as a core part of how they operate.

This role blends strategic influence, hands‑on leadership, and the chance to make a measurable impact across major projects.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading the regional sustainability function: Guiding an advisor and shaping how sustainability is delivered across a diverse project portfolio.
• Driving meaningful environmental performance: Championing best practice in carbon, waste, biodiversity, energy and materials, ensuring sustainability is embedded from design to delivery.
• Influencing at every level: Partnering with operational teams, clients, regulators and internal stakeholders to push forward smarter, greener ways of working.
• Owning investigations and assurance: Ensuring incidents are fully reviewed, lessons are captured, and compliance is consistently met across the region.
• Developing capability across the business: Working with HR and operational leaders to design and deliver sustainability and assurance training that actually lands.
• Raising the bar on reporting and insights: Producing clear, value‑adding reports and monitoring site performance to keep sustainability front and centre.
