What you will do:

  • Ensure the Local Authority’s responses to SEND Tribunal appeals are consistent, well-evidenced, and legally sound.

  • Conduct thorough reviews of case documentation and supporting evidence to prepare for tribunal proceedings.

  • Attend SEND Tribunal hearings when required, representing the local authority professionally and effectively.

  • Participate in mediation sessions to resolve disputes early and amicably, reducing reliance on formal hearings.

Person Specification:

Qualifications

  • Professional and degree level qualification or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Experience of working with children, young people and families, ideally with special educational needs and disabilities.

  • Experience in a similar role within a Local Authority or educational/legal environment.

  • Experience in applying specialised knowledge and managing highly complex and high-risk situations.

  • Experience of working collaboratively within multi-agency environments, including partnership working with internal and external stakeholders.
