Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

Safeguarding & Assessment

  • Receive, screen, and triage safeguarding referrals.
  • Conduct initial risk assessments to determine appropriate interventions.
  • Apply professional judgement in assessing thresholds for social work involvement.
  • Respond to safeguarding concerns in accordance with legislation and local policies.

Multi‑Agency Collaboration

  • Work closely with police, health, education, and early help teams in the MASH environment.
  • Share and analyse information to build a clear understanding of risks and needs.
  • Participate in strategy discussions and contribute to decision‑making processes.

Case Management

  • Record referrals, decisions, and actions accurately within the case management system.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection and information‑sharing protocols.
  • Escalate high‑risk or urgent cases where necessary.

Child‑Centred Practice

  • Ensure children’s voices and experiences are central to assessments and decisions.
  • Promote the safety, wellbeing, and development of children in line with statutory guidance.

Professional Practice

  • Maintain Social Work England registration and professional standards.
  • Engage in supervision, training, and ongoing CPD.
  • Uphold ethical practice in all interactions with families and partner agencies.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  • Experience in children’s services, safeguarding, or MASH/front door teams.
  • Strong assessment, analysis, and risk‑management skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi‑agency environment.

Desirable

  • Previous experience specifically within a MASH or Front Door service.
  • Strong decision‑making and threshold‑assessment abilities.
  • Familiarity with local authority case management systems.
