What you will do:

• Efficiently process patient samples using manual, semi-automated, and fully automated techniques and instrumentation.
• Undertake troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment within the section.
• Participate actively in the development of new methodologies and instrument evaluations.
• Assess sample suitability and liaise with medical staff as required.
• Ensure the analytical process is satisfactorily completed and results are validated within agreed turnaround times.
• Monitor analysis performance, check internal quality control samples, and take corrective action if necessary.
• Refer unusual events to a more experienced Biomedical Scientist for advice or action.
• Prioritise investigations based on clinical need and meet agreed turnaround times for urgent requests.
• Adhere to appropriate codes of conduct and infection prevention procedures.
• Safeguard children and vulnerable adults, completing necessary training.
• Prioritise the person receiving care first and challenge poor practice immediately.
