What you will do:

  • Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people, including emotional support, maintaining routines, and facilitating activities that promote wellbeing and development.

  • Foster positive relationships with children, helping them to build life skills, resilience, and independence.

  • Implement care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies to ensure the safety and welfare of all those in your care.

  • Assist children with their education, appointments, and social activities, encouraging them to engage and achieve their goals.

Job Overview:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing direct care and support to children and young people. Your focus will be on creating a nurturing and therapeutic environment that promotes positive behaviour and supports children in reaching their full potential in line with their care plans and regulatory standards.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)

  • Evidence of continued professional development

Registration & Compliance:

  • Knowledge of Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, safeguarding children frameworks, and Care Standards Act 2000

  • Enhanced DBS clearance

Key Skills:

  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children and young people

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Resilience and ability to manage challenging behaviour

  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow guidance and care plans

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare

Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a care or support setting

  • Experience supporting individuals with emotional or behavioural needs (desirable)

  • Experience working within a residential or care environment (desirable)
