What you will do:

• Manage a complex caseload of children and families in the First Response service, addressing both Child Protection (Section 47) and Child in Need (Section 17) cases.

• Undertake advanced statutory assessments, risk assessments, and care planning, making high-level safeguarding decisions that actively protect vulnerable children.

• Provide practice supervision, guidance, and support to fellow social workers and less experienced practitioners, fostering a supportive and effective team environment.

• Lead and contribute to strategy meetings, child protection conferences, and multi-agency decision-making sessions, ensuring that robust safeguarding interventions are executed.

Person Specification:

• Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent); evidence of continued professional development; post-qualifying award is desirable.

• Registration & Compliance: Must be registered with Social Work England; knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks such as the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Public Law Outline (PLO) and care proceedings; enhanced DBS clearance required.
