Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse – Surgical Unit to join a busy and supportive surgical ward in the States of Guernsey for an 8-week locum placement.

This role offers an excellent umbrella rate of £40.00 per hour, with travel fully covered and on-site accommodation available for approximately £140 per week, making this a fantastic opportunity for nurses looking for both professional development and a unique island experience.

What You Will Do

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient needs.

• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care delivery.

• Support and mentor junior staff, helping to maintain a positive and supportive ward culture.

• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and colleagues to ensure continuity and clarity of care.

• Contribute to the day-to-day running of the ward, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical standards.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.

• Recent experience in an acute hospital or surgical ward setting.

• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Strong communication, organisation, and clinical skills.

Desirable

• Previous experience working within surgical or theatre-adjacent wards.

• Experience in fast-paced ward environments.
