What you will do:

  • Provide personal care, assisting residents with their daily routines such as washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility, always respecting their privacy and dignity.

  • Support residents with nutrition and hydration needs, including preparing meals and assisting with feeding when necessary.

  • Assist with the administration of medication or provide prompts in line with care plans and organisational policies.

  • Monitor and record the physical and emotional wellbeing of residents, escalating any concerns as needed.

  • Engage residents in meaningful activities to enhance social interaction, wellbeing, and their overall quality of life.

  • Maintain accurate care records and contribute to care planning in compliance with Care Quality Commission CQC standards.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care or a willingness to work towards this qualification.

  • Holding a Care Certificate is desirable.

Registration & Compliance:

  • No professional registration is required, though knowledge of CQC fundamental standards and safeguarding adults procedures is necessary.

  • An understanding of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 Regulated Activities Regulations 2014 is vital.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to provide compassionate, person-centred care.

  • Understanding of dignity, respect, and safeguarding principles.

  • Effective communication skills with residents, families, and team members.

  • Capability to observe, record, and report changes in resident conditions.

  • Flexibility to work across different shifts within a care home environment.

Experience:

  • Experience in a care home, domiciliary care, or healthcare setting is desirable.

  • Experience supporting older people, including those with dementia or complex needs.

  • Proven ability to follow care plans and contribute to review processes.

  • Experience working as part of a team within a regulated care environment.
