What you will do:

  • Manage a caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases, ensuring timely assessments, planning, and intervention in line with statutory requirements.

  • Undertake Section 47 enquiries and lead safeguarding activity, including strategy discussions, core groups, and child protection conferences.

  • Develop and review child protection and child in need plans, ensuring interventions are outcome-focused and reduce risk.

  • Undertake direct work with children and families to assess risk, build relationships, and support sustainable change.

  • Prepare high-quality reports for case conferences, legal planning meetings, and court proceedings where required.

  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including Police, Health, and Education to ensure coordinated safeguarding responses.

Person Specification:

  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent), completion of ASYE or equivalent post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services.

  • Registration & Compliance: Registered with Social Work England. Strong working knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004 and safeguarding procedures. Understanding of Public Law Outline (PLO) and court processes is desirable.
